311, formed in 1990 in Omaha, Nebraska, moved to Los Angeles in 1991 and signed with Capricorn Records. They were brought together by a common link of passion for both music and life. They are five self-described "friends for life" (singer/guitarist Nick Hexum, singer S.A. Martinez, guitarist Tim Mahoney, drummer Chad Sexton and the bassist known only as P-Nut). 311 adds funk to a mix of alternative rock and hip-hop. This, combined with their unique perspective on life creates a style all their own and has attracted a loyal fan base from all over the world.
