The
Allman Brothers Band is a Southern rock and blues group from Macon, Georgia and was formed in 1969 by Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson. Their first album, The Allman Brothers Band, was loved by critics, but it wasn't until their second release, Idlewild South, in 1970 that the band gained noteriety. A year later, The Allman Brothers Band released a live album, At Fillmore East, which was another huge hit. Later that year, Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. Dickey Betts filled Duane's role in completing the last album he participated in, Eat a Peach and in 1973 took the lead with the release of Brothers and Sisters which had a country music sound. "Ramblin' Man" and "Jessica" were two hit singles from Brothers and Sisters. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine named Duane Allman the number two guitarist on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. The Allman Brothers Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. Don't miss out on your chance to see this legendary band in concert.
