The Producers
The Producers Tickets The Producers, adapted as a Broadway musical by Mel Brooks in 2001, won more Tony Awards, 12 including Best Musical, than any show in Broadway history, breaking the record held for 37 years by Hello Dolly! It tells the story of down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane) and Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick), a mousy accountant. Together they plan the ultimate scam: raise more money than you need for a sure-fire Broadway flop and pocket the difference. Their sure-fire flop is the musical Springtime for Hitler. They think they can take off with all their investors' money, but when the curtain goes up on their singing and dancing spectacular, they realize their plan has gone exceedingly wrong.
